The junior women’s hockey team from India left for Muscat on Tuesday in order to defend their Asia Cup title, which would also help them earn a spot in the FIH Junior World Cup the following year.
In the Junior Asia Cup, which will take place from December 7 to 15, India will play their opening match against Bangladesh on Sunday.
The World Cup, which will take place in Santiago, Chile, will feature the best three teams in the showcase.
Pool A will pit India against China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Bangladesh, while Pool B will include South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and Chinese Taipei.
Together with vice captain Sakshi Rana, skipper Jyoti Singh will lead India’s campaign. The team also includes players who have played for the senior team.
These players are Deepika, Mumtaz Khan, Sunelita Toppo, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, and Beauty Dungdung.
Tushar Khandker, a former captain of India, is coaching the team.
