Although South Korea has not yet participated in a match in the tournament, Mongolia’s first-round match versus China was a forgettable affair. In their first-ever Women’s East Asia Cup encounter, Mongolia was bowled out for just 51 runs, and China won by five wickets after chasing the goal in just ten overs.
The competition is being played amongst five teams: South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Mongolia. Before the top two move on to the championship game, each team will play one match against every other team. The third play-off game is scheduled for the same day as the championship game.
Hong Kong are the defending champions.
