In the combination sport, where participants must play four racket sports: table tennis, badminton, tennis, and squash, Chaufla will captain the team that includes Nihit Kumar Singh, Karan Taneja, Prashant Sen, Nikhil Mansukhani, and the lone female player, Nayna Taneja.
Tuesday saw the appointment of Vikramaditya Chaufla as captain of the six-person Indian team competing in the World Racketlon Championship in Rotterdam from July 31 to August 4.
Players must play table tennis, badminton, tennis, and squash as part of the combination sport known as racketlon.
Chaufla, a former badminton player, competed for India in the last two World Championships as a racketlon player. In the 2022 competition, which was also held in Rotterdam, he took home a silver medal in the individual division.
Nihit Kumar Singh, Karan Taneja, Prashant Sen, Nikhil Mansukhani, and Nayna Taneja, the lone female player, are all included in the squad. The team was unveiled on Tuesday by the Racketlon India Sports Association.
“It is a tremendous honor for me to be the team captain in my third World Championship. India’s raketlon scene is expanding quickly, and a strong showing at the World Championship would only raise interest in the sport. The goal is to represent the nation with a medal,” Udaipur-born Chaufla stated.
The squad manager will be K K Cheema, the president of the Racketlon India Sports Association.
