Tony Ferguson knows all around well that title shots are difficult to procure in the UFC.
He by and by fabricated a 12-battle series of wins in the lightweight division, and keeping in mind that he held an interval title at one time, the former Ultimate Fighter victor was never lucky enough to vie for the undisputed title.
Obviously, Ferguson managed wounds, including an oddity event where he stumbled over a TV wire that smothered his knee not long before a title battle against Khabib Nurmagomedov, just as a huge number of different issues that kept him from accepting that chance.
All things considered, Ferguson didn’t take excessively benevolent to seeing previous Bellator champion Michael Chandler at the UFC 262 pre-quarrel question and answer session over to go after the empty lightweight title in just his second battle with the advancement.
“You f*cking avoided me as well, Chandler – you’re not kidding,” Ferguson yelled at Chandler. “Each individual out there with the exception of this person [Charles Oliveira], that is sitting close to me. I will be genuine.
“You fcking said no, I will be genuine. You got this sht gave to you. You got Dana White advantage.”
Indeed, even UFC president Dana White enjoyed a chuckle at Ferguson’s line.
Ferguson at that point kept on pointing at race as a deciding component in regards to his own title yearnings, which he has apparently abandoned as he pushes ahead in his UFC profession.
“Dana was correct – he said the circumstance is everything,” Ferguson said. “It wasn’t intended for me to have the title. I would have allowed everyone an opportunity, isn’t that so? I’m fcking wonderful. No, totally fcking not.
“These folks will attempt to get the title far from me however much they can. I’m Mexican. It doesn’t make any difference in case you’re tone up here or not however I’m made with American parts, as well, so we should f*cking go.”
Obviously, Chandler wasn’t in any way shape or form delighted after he was really supposed to confront Ferguson in his UFC debut however the battle never met up.
Chandler eventually confronted and afterward dispatched Dan Hooker inside three minutes of the opening round back at UFC 257, which at that point prompted his title shot against Charles Oliveira on Saturday night.
“Nowadays the word merit is a hard one to measure,” Chandler said. “I’ve been in this game for longer than 10 years. 13 years in August. My resume justifies itself. I have destroyed two previous UFC support so I love my resume. I love the past. I love my ups and I love my downs.
“I think the show that I put on against Dan Hooker, doing in more than two minutes what Dustin Poirier couldn’t do in 25. Doing what Paul Felder couldn’t do quickly, I accept that was demonstrative of getting this title shot, also the way that I came in immediately, kicked down the entryway, said yes to each chance, appeared with my work boots on actually like my father did as an association woodworker throughout the previous 40 years. I appear. I’m a functioning man. I will say yes when you call.”
More significant than getting down on Chandler or his complaints over a title shot, Ferguson simply needs to refocus subsequent to enduring misfortunes in his previous two battles in succession.
Based on his remarks, Ferguson is started up to eradicate the past and work towards a superior future beginning with his co-headliner standoff against Beneil Dariush this end of the week.
“You have these two respectable men who are battling for an empty title, who I had 12 battles in succession and I battled for a title yet then I got stripped, right?” Ferguson said. “A few days ago a cameraman stumbled over a f*cking string when I was giving a meeting, and it was really not clever, the amusing thing is god never puts enough on our plate that we can’t deal with.
“A year ago, I put such a huge amount on my damn plate that he fcking set me up during the current year. 2021’s my btch.”
