NHL Commissioner Gary Bateman held a press conference Wednesday ahead of Game One in the Stanley Cup Final between the Colorado Avalanche and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
During the event, the NHL released the official logos for the three upcoming outdoor games in the 2022-23 season.
It includes a stadium series match between the Washington Capitals and the Carolina Hurricanes on February 18, 2023 at Carter-Finlay Stadium in NC.
The logo depicts bleacher lights at the top. The 12 lights represent every stadium series game played so far in NHL history. Red, white and black are Hurricane and NC state branding colors, while Silver celebrates the 25th anniversary of Hurricanes.
The NHL also unveiled the logo for the Winter Classic – a great tribute to the Green Monster scoreboard – and the Florida 2023 All-Star Game. The glowing ASG symbol has a retro typeface and two palm trees representing L’s in the word ALL.
The NHL also released graphics that illustrate the details of other logos.
The stadium series will mark the fourth ground of the Game Capitals. The team is unbeaten in those games with a 3-1 victory over the Penguins in the 2011 Winter Classic, a 3-2 victory over the Blackhawks in the 2015 Winter Classic and a 5-2 victory over the Maple Leafs in 2018. Stadium series games held at Annapolis, MD.
“We are delighted to have been selected to participate in our fourth field game next season against the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2023 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series,” Capitals President Dick Patrick said in a March release. “After previously participating in the 2018 Stadium Series in Annapolis, Maryland, we know the amazing atmosphere provided by the event and we look forward to performing on the national stage in such a marquee event. We look forward to working with the league and the Carolina Hurricanes next February to give hockey fans an incredible field experience. “
