Thailand Masters 2025: Srikanth Kidambi Makes It to Round Second

Kidambi Srikanth, a former world No. 1 Indian shuttler, won all of his games in Patumwan on Wednesday to advance to the second round of the Thailand Masters BWF Super 300.

In the first round of the men’s singles competition, Srikanth defeated Danii Dubovenko of Israel 21-13 21-18.

Srikanth defeated Dubovenko in the 2024 Macau Open in September 2024, and this is his second consecutive victory over him.

Jason Gunawan of Hong Kong will be Srikanth’s next opponent.

In a difficult three-game match, S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian overcame June Wei Cheam of Malaysia 15-21 21-15 21-19, among other Indians in the men’s singles division. Next up for him is Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo of Indonesia.

In the men’s singles, Mithun Manjunath fell to another Malaysian, Sholeh Aidil, 14-21 13-21, while Ayush Shetty was dismissed by Jing Hong Kok of Malaysia 15-21 17-21.

Right from the beginning, Srikanth dominated the first game, soaring to a 6-0 lead while his opponent faltered, giving the Indian a 1-0 advantage.

The Israeli shuttler fought harder this time, but Srikanth carried on the same strategy and bounded off the blocks in the second game as well.

After leading 11–7 at the half of the second game, Srikanth maintained his lead to end the match at 21–18.

In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde advanced to the second round by defeating Sararat Chueboca and Weeraphat Phakjarung of Thailand 21-8 21-16.

The Thai duo of Ratchapol Makkasasithorn and Nattamon Laisuan will be their next opponent.

Pannawat Jamtubtim and Ratchapol Makkasasithorn of Thailand were defeated by Ruben Kumar and Hariharan in the men’s doubles match, 21-18, 21-12.
