At Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday, January 18, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will face Malaysian Sze Fei Goh and Nur Izzuddin in the second semi-final of the Indian Open 2025 men’s doubles competition.
Known affectionately as Sat-Chi, the well-known duo will aim to maintain the Indian flag flying high in the nation’s capital. On Friday, Indian singles campaigns came to an end when PV Sindhu and Kiran George lost their respective quarterfinal matches.
However, Sat-Chi put on a clinical display yesterday, defeating the South Korean duo of Jin Yong and Kang Min Hyuk in just 41 minutes (21-10, 21-17). Following the China Masters and Malaysia Super 1000, the victory guaranteed the 2022 champions a third straight trip to the semi-finals.
Head-to-head record
Sze Fei Goh and Nur Izzuddin are trailing Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty 6-1 in their head-to-head record; the Indian duo’s lone loss was during their round of 16 match at the Denmark Open 2021.
Sat-Chi thrashed the Malaysians 21-19, 21-15 in their most recent encounter, which took place in the Thomas Cup 2022.
