Sat-Chi lost the second game 19-21 after winning the first, which was hotly contested, 23-21. However, the 2022 champions won their third game, 21-16, to end the match.
In the BWF men’s doubles rankings, Shetty and his younger partner Rankireddy, 24, are presently ranked ninth. This will be their second meeting on the tour. During the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships, Sat-Chi defeated Mitsuhashi and Okamura 21-15, 21-17.
The 19th-ranked pair in the world, Okamura and Mitsuhashi, upset the Indian pair, P Krishnamurthy Roy and KS Pratheek, 21-19, 21-16, in the opening round of the BWF Super 750 tournament.
