Roger Federer’s Record is Broken by Novak Djokovic, who Advances to the Miami Open Semifinals

Novak Djokovic became the oldest ATP Masters 1000 semi-finalist in history after defeating Sebastian Korda in straight sets at the Miami Open.

With a 6-3 7-6[4] victory in his postponed last-eight match against Sebastian Korda, Djokovic stormed into his first Miami last four contest since 2016. The match had been postponed the previous evening.

In the final four, Djokovic will now take on another seasoned player, Grigor Dimitrov, 33, in an attempt to advance to the championship match.

In that match, the oldest combined age of two opponents in a Masters 1000 semifinal will also be determined.

Djokovic is playing well going into that match; he has served 11 aces to Korda without receiving a double-fault and has converted both of his break-point attempts.

A meeting with a great at the other end of his career might still be the prize beyond Dimitrov, as teenager Jakub Mensik advanced to the other semi-final after defeating Arthur Fils.

Data Debriefing:

Djokovic, who played to such an advanced age, achieved yet another record by defeating Korda, proving his incredible stamina at the greatest level. With just 18 losses, this was his 99th victory in the Indian Wells and Miami singles events. That 84.6% win rate is the highest of any player who has participated in ten of these games since 1985.
