PV Sindhu Withdraws from BAMTC 2025 Because of Hamstring Injury

Two-time Olympic shuttler PV Sindhu withdrew from the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in China Due to a hamstring injury, , severely hurting the nation’s hopes of enhancing the color of their medal in the esteemed competition.

The Indian shuttlers are now preparing at a camp in Guwahati in preparation for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Qingdao from February 11–16.

Sindhu was a member of the team that took home the bronze in the last competition.

In addition to Sindhu, the camp’s top players include Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, and the powerful doubles team of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share I won’t be travelling with the team for BAMTC 2025. While training on the 4th (February) in Guwahati, I felt a twinge in my hamstring. Despite my efforts to push through with heavy taping for our country, an MRI has revealed that my recovery will take slightly longer than I initially expected,” said the 29-year-old Sindhu.

India, Macau, and South Korea, the runners-up, are all in a difficult Group D. They will open their campaign against Macau on February 12, which will be followed by a challenging game against South Korea on February 13.

Sindhu said she will be “cheering from the sidelines” and wished the squad well.
