NBA Roundup: The Clippers Win After James Harden Scores 40 Points

Norman Powell scored 33 points and James Harden scored 17 of his 40 points in the third quarter as the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 127-117 in Inglewood, California.

Kawhi Leonard played in his seventh game of the season, scoring 18 points and recording a season-high 24 minutes. Ivica Zubac led the Clippers to a 3-2 run over five games in seven days with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Clippers turned a 100-98 deficit into a 112-100 lead in the fourth quarter with a 14-0 run. Harden scored the last six points in the run and finished with nine assists.

The Bucks ended a five-game winning streak with a 36-point, 13-rebound performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo and a fifth career triple-double from Damian Lillard, who finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Milwaukee began a four-game road trip with 19 points from Gary Trent Jr., 14 from Taurean Prince, and 13 from Brook Lopez.

Spurs 98, Pacers 136

Indiana defeated San Antonio to draw the NBA Paris Games series, and Tyrese Haliburton scored a game-high 28 points and took over in the crucial last five minutes of the third quarter.

San Antonio defeated the Pacers 140-110 in the first game of the set on Thursday, but they were unable to respond in the decisive game. Indiana had a 12-point lead after three and a 15-point lead at the half. Haliburton ended the stanza with a commanding 19-6 run that included 16 points. Indiana, which has won three of its last four games, got 23 points and 11 rebounds from Pascal Siakam.

Myles Turner scored 14, Andrew Nembhard scored 15, Bennedict Mathurin scored 13, T.J. McConnell scored 12, and Thomas Bryant scored 10.

Victor Wembanyama, a native of Paris, contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Harrison Barnes led San Antonio with 25 points. Chris Paul scored eleven points, while Stephon Castle scored seventeen. In their last five games, the Spurs have lost four of them.

The Nuggets 104, Timberwolves 133

Minnesota easily defeated Denver in Minneapolis thanks to a 34-point performance from Anthony Edwards.

In addition, Edwards had nine assists for Minnesota, which had an incredible field goal percentage of 55.8% (53 of 95). Rudy Gobert (14), Jaden McDaniels (13) and Naz Reid (13), along with Julius Randle (21), were among the seven Timberwolves who scored in double figures. Mavericks 107, Celtics 122

Derrick White added 23 points and Jayson Tatum had a game-high 24 points to help visiting Boston defeat Dallas.

The Celtics went 20 of 52 (38.5%) from 3-point range in the game, while Tatum and White each made four 3-pointers. At least 17 points were scored by each of the five Boston starters. Jrue Holiday had 17, Kristaps Porzingis had 18, and Jaylen Brown had thrown in 22. Holiday’s 3-point shooting percentage was 5 out of 10.

The Mavericks, who have dropped six of their previous eight games, had 22 points from Kyrie Irving. Daniel Gafford finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Quentin Grimes scored 20 points off the bench for Dallas.

Kings 120, Knicks 143

OG Anunoby led New York to victory over visiting Sacramento with a team-high 33 points.

The Knicks won their third consecutive game thanks to contributions from Mikal Bridges (27 points), Jalen Brunson (25 points and 11 assists), and Josh Hart (20 points, 18 rebounds, and 11 assists). New York made 17 of its 36 (47.2%) 3-point tries, led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds.

With 31 points, Malik Monk led the Kings. DeMar DeRozan scored 18 points and Domantas Sabonis contributed 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists as Sacramento suffered its second straight defeat.

Bulls 97, 76ers 109

Visiting Philadelphia defeated struggling Chicago thanks to Tyrese Maxey’s 31 points and nine assists and Kelly Oubre Jr.’s 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Following a seven-game losing streak, the 76ers have won two straight games. Chicago has suffered seven of eight defeats. The Bulls made 20 mistakes.

For Chicago, Zach LaVine finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Nikola Vucevic contributed 12 rebounds and 22 points. With 10 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, Josh Giddey recorded his third consecutive double-double for the Bulls.

Warriors 108, Lakers 118

Los Angeles easily defeated Golden State in San Francisco, Dorian Finney-Smith made a 3-pointer to start a game-ending run early in the fourth quarter, and Anthony Davis and LeBron James combined for 61 points in double-doubles.

On a night when Stephen Curry missed all eight of his second-half shots, finished with 13 points, and made just two 3-pointers total, Andrew Wiggins led Golden State with 20 points.

Pistons 113, Magic 121

The Magic ended a five-game losing run by defeating visiting Detroit, with 25 of their 32 points coming from Franz Wagner in the fourth quarter.

Orlando (24–23) scored 32 points from Paolo Banchero as well. The team had fallen behind by two points before a 20–4 rally in the fourth quarter put them ahead 99–85. The final stats were 11 points and 11 rebounds for Wendell Carter Jr. and 14 points for Jonathan Isaac.

Cade Cunningham scored 35 points and dished out 11 assists to lead the Pistons. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Ron Holland II each scored 13 points, Jalen Duren finished with 10, Ausar Thompson added 16, and Malik Beasley scored 18.

Wizards 109, Suns 119

As Phoenix defeated visiting Washington, Nick Richards kept up his impressive play and Kevin Durant scored 29 points.

In his fourth game with the Suns and his first at home since joining from the Charlotte Hornets last week, Richards scored 20 points and pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds. The former Washington standout Bradley Beal also scored 20 points for the Suns. Tyus Jones scored 16 points, while Devin Booker contributed 18 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.

For the thirteenth straight game that Washington has lost, Kyle Kuzma finished with 30 points and 11 rebounds. The Wizards are 1-20 on the road this season and 0-5 on a six-game trip. For the Wizards, Jordan Poole recorded a career-high six steals, 10 assists, and 19 points. Washington with 16 points from Jonas Valanciunas, 12 from Bilal Coulibaly, and 11 from Alex Sarr and Bub Carrington.

Jazz 103, Grizzlies 125

With 28 points from Jaren Jackson Jr. and 19 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks from Zach Edey, host Memphis defeated Utah for the sixth time in a row, tying a season-long winning run.

After missing Friday’s game against the Pelicans, Memphis guard Ja Morant made a comeback and finished with 11 points and seven assists. Jaylen Wells scored 16, GG Jackson had 15 points and 6 rebounds, and Desmond Bane had 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Svi Mykhailiuk scored 16 points and Collin Sexton scored 20 points to lead Utah, which fell for the eighth time in nine games and for the fifth time in a row.

Hawks 94, Raptors 117

Chris Boucher, RJ Barrett, and Scottie Barnes scored 70 points between them to help visiting Toronto defeat Atlanta and win back-to-back road games for the first time this season.

Toronto won the season series 2-1 after sweeping the two-games-in-three-days series. Toronto had won three in a row in Atlanta and only their third victory in 22 away games. The Hawks are now 11-10 at home and have lost four straight games. Barrett contributed 23 points and eight rebounds, Barnes finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, and Boucher scored 23 points off the bench.

Vit Krejci scored 20 points to lead Atlanta. Krejci recorded a season-best seven assists and six 3-pointers, matching his career high. It was a bad game for Trae Young. He finished with 16 points, a season-high 11 turnovers, and a season-low four assists, snapping a 202-game string in which he had at least five assists.

Cavaliers 131, Rockets 135.

Amen Thompson’s triple-double performance included crucial late points and rebounds, and visiting Houston finished sweeping Cleveland in the regular season.

After gaining the lead halfway through the first quarter, Houston never looked back, but with 1:51 left in regulation, Cleveland forced a tie by reducing a deficit of up to 19 points. Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun each scored a team-high 26 points. Thompson recorded his second career triple-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists. Fred VanVleet added 20 points, making him one of four Houston starters to score at least 20.

Darius Garland of Cleveland finished the game with a team-high nine assists and the most points (39). Max Strus finished with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Cavaliers, while Georges Niang scored 21 points after coming off the bench.

Nets 97, Heat 106

Miami overcame Brooklyn’s late rally to win in New York, thanks to Tyler Herro’s 25 points in the third quarter.

At 22–22, the Heat won for just the ninth time in 21 games since winning four straight in early December, and they returned to.500 for the 12th time this season. Herro got eight of Miami’s 22 assists and made 8 of 14 shots.

Keon Johnson helped Brooklyn overcome an 18-point deficit early in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 of his 22 points in that frame. In addition, D’Angelo Russell scored 22 points for the Nets, who missed nine of their previous 12 games due to Cameron Johnson’s right ankle injury.

Pelicans 92, Hornets 123

As host Charlotte dominated New Orleans, LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges both made their injury comebacks to score 25 and 22 points, respectively.

Josh Green scored 13 points for Charlotte, and Seth Curry scored 16 points off the bench. The Hornets were without center Mark Williams due to a right foot ailment, even though Ball and Bridges were back. In 29 minutes off the bench, Moussa Diabate contributed nine points and thirteen rebounds while filling in for Williams.

After a season-best four-game winning run, the Pelicans lost their second straight game. Zion Williamson, who hadn’t played since January 17, scored 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
