In a hard-fought match, Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and Croatian partner Mate Pavic defeated fourth seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and John Peers to advance to the Wimbledon mixed doubles semifinals.
In one hour 41 minutes on Monday night, Mirza and Pavic defeated the Canadian-Australian duo 6-4 3-6 7-5.
In the quarterfinals, the Indo-Croatian pair will face the winners of the match between the seventh seeds Robert Farah and Jelena Ostapenko and the second seeds Neil Skupsi and Desirae Krawczyk.
Mirza’s mixed doubles performance at the All England Club is his best. In 2011, 2013, and 2015, she reached the quarterfinals.
She has won six Grand Slam titles in mixed doubles, but she only has one Wimbledon trophy in her trophy cabinet. Mirza has already announced her retirement at the end of the current season.
