Manchester United defeated Leicester City 2-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday at Old Trafford after a spectacular comeback from a goal down, thanks to a goal from Joshua Zirkzee and a last-minute header from veteran defender Harry Maguire.
Maguire headed in the game-winning goal from Bruno Fernandes’ free kick in the 93rd minute, just seconds before the final whistle, just as it looked like the match was about to go into extra time.
As a result, United won three home games against the same opposition in a single season for the first time in the team’s history. At Old Trafford, United defeated Leicester 3-0 in the Premier League and 5-2 in the League Cup.
Holders United did not play well in the first half, and Leicester took advantage in the 42nd minute when goalie Andre Onana stopped a shot from Wilfred Ndidi, but Bobby De Cordova-Reid headed in the rebound from close range.
Alejandro Garnacho fired a cross into the box in the 68th minute to give Zirkzee the equalizer, but defender Caleb Okoli stopped Rasmus Hojlund’s attempt. Three minutes after entering the game, Zirkzee tapped home a well positioned ball.
