Italy will Host the Hopman Cup Mixed-Team Tennis Tournament in July

Hopman Cup: Southern Italian city of Bari will host the Hopman Cup this year, which was formerly a mainstay of the Australian tennis summer.

The International Tennis Federation said Thursday that the mixed-team competition, which will include teams from Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Canada, and the defending champion Croatia, will take place the week following Wimbledon, from July 16–20.

There is just one male and one female player on each Hopman Cup squad. A mixed doubles match, one women’s singles match, and one men’s singles match are all part of the ties. There are no rating points given out for the tournament.

Flavio Cobolli and Jasmine Paolini will represent host Italy. Other teams’ players have not yet been identified.

Paolini won the women’s doubles championships at the Olympics in Paris with partner Sara Errani, and she was a finalist at the French Open and Wimbledon last year.

The Cup named for the legendary Australian Harry Hopman, was played every year in Perth as the season opener until 2020. Donna Vekic and Borna Coric of Croatia won it when it was revived in France in 2023. However, because to its closeness to the Olympics, the event that was supposed to take place in Nice, France, last year was canceled.

The change to Bari is part of a packed tennis season in Italy, which also hosts the Italian Open in May and the ATP and Davis Cup finals in November.
