What 2019 holds for them? Well, that is the most prominent question for fans and for themselves. RCB is one of the most well-known teams and the one which has the most electrifying fan base all over the world. It isn’t wrong to say that Kohli and company finally wish to fight the possible odds and bring the trophy home this year for the very first time. They have always been the favourites at the start of every season because they have always been the strongest side on paper. It’s so long that fans have been waiting for RCB to clinch the title thinking this might be the year for them. With the campaign, they ran “Ee Saala Cup Namde” (This year, the cup is ours) they showed they are confident for a victorious season ahead.
The major aspects they will be looking at this year will include, what should be their combinations, strengths, weaknesses, team balance and many more. With the likes of Shimron Hetmyer coming they will be betting high on him as the Caribbean giant has been terrific the moment he came into international cricket. Talking about Marcus Stoinis (traded from Punjab) he could provide the much-needed balance for RCB and Shivam Dubey, who will be in a lot of pressure because of the price tag of whopping 5 crores, he could be their lower middle order solution.
Retained players will now have an important role to play as they have been trusted again by the franchise. The ”Superman” Ab de Villiers could be their “go to” man again. With no pressure of international cricket, he can express himself a lot better. Tim Southee, Colin de Grandhomme, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj these players need to prove themselves a lot better now.
Talking about their strengths and weaknesses, it is evident to the world. The powerhouse of their batting line up will again have to handle all by themselves as their bowling line up is more or less same as the previous year. The fierce strikers, match winners and impactful players have to cover their fragile bowling line up once again. Also, their lower middle order has been their cause of concern for the last few years. With Marcus Stoinis, Heinrich Klaasen, Moen Ali coming into the side they could be the answer to this problem this time.
Fans, as usual, have high hopes and already set high expectations again this year as with the determined Kohli and with the likes of Experience, youth, top coach and supporting staffs, fans will not expect anything less than a trophy this year because for them RCB is not a word it is a feeling. With RCB looking more than bold and with the balance they are having this season. RCB could easily complete the drought of the title this year.
After selling Quinton de Cock and Brendon Mccullum and other big players, the current combinations they are having, the probable eleven could be like this- Parthiv Patel (WK), Virat Kohli ( Captain ), Ab de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer, Akshdeep Nath,Marcus Stoinis, Shivam Dubey, Washington Sunder, Tim Southee, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal.
