Just a day ago, Delhi Capitals played against Sunrisers Hyderabad at this same venue. For Chennai Super Kings it was their first game this year at this venue.
Toss was won by CSK and they elected to bowl first. This is what every team has done in order to be in the driving seat right throughout the tournament.
Again Delhi Capitals’ openers failed to give them the start that they would have wanted in a knockout game. Shaw and Dhawan departed for 5 and 18 runs respectively. Pant tried to score some runs but he was also dismissed for 38 runs. Other batsmen simply didn’t deliver. Delhi finished with 147 for the loss of 9 wickets.
Chennai Super Kings had a partnership of 81 runs for the first wicket. When du Plessis was dismissed in CSK needed 67 runs on 58 balls. CSK won the game comfortably in the end by 6 wickets. Positive for CSK in this match was the returning form of Shane Watson.
Delhi Capitals clearly missed the service of Kagiso Rabada. None of their bowlers were able to trouble CSK’s batsmen.
Chennai Super Kings will now play against Mumbai Indians on Sunday in the final of Indian Premier League 2019.
