The Prime Minister’s XI of Australia will face the Indian cricket team in a two-day day-night tour match later in 2024, in between the first and second Tests of the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy.
A five-match series between Australia and India will begin on November 22 in Perth, Western Australia. The two elite cricketing nations will square off in a five-match Test series for the first time in more than thirty years.
On November 30 and December 1, the Indian team will play a day-night tour match against the PM XI at Canberra’s Manuka Oval.
To aid the Indian squad in adjusting to the weather and getting ready for the day-night Test in Adelaide, a two-day match has been added to the tour schedule.
The Prime Minister’s XI match this year will honor the nations’ ever-deepening cultural, economic, and community relations while showcasing the great cricket links that date back to India’s independence in 1947. It also boasts a historic first.
Although it’s the fourth time India has faced a PM’s XI in Australia, the match has never been played over two days; instead, the first 48 matches (against visiting teams and the ATSIC Chairman’s XI) since 1951 have been played as one-day matches.
In 2020–21, India played a similar match and prevailed 2-1 in the series. This was their prior flight to Australia.
