ICC Women’s T20 World Cup: India’s Warm-up Matches Against South Africa and the West Indies; Full Schedule

India will play the West Indies and South Africa as part of their preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up schedule, which has been revealed. According to information released by the ICC, these matches will occur in the United Arab Emirates from Saturday, September 28, until Tuesday, October 1.

These practice matches will feature two warm-up matches for each of the 10 teams who have qualified for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Teams are free to use every player in their 15-man roster for these 20-over games, which will not have official international T20 status. Crucially, during the warm-up round, no two sides from the same group will face one another.

Group A of the Women’s T20 World Cup comprises India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the reigning champions, Australia.

Bangladesh, Bangladesh, West Indies, South Africa, and England make up Group B.

Starting on September 28, Pakistan will play Scotland, and Sri Lanka will play Bangladesh in the warm-up matches. The following day, Australia will play their long-standing rivals England, while India will play the 2016 tournament winners West Indies.

Australia won their sixth T20 World Cup victory last year, defeating South Africa by 19 runs at home. India advanced to the semifinals, although they were defeated by Australia by a margin of five runs.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the updated schedule for the event on Monday, which will take place in Dubai and Sharjah following the tournament’s relocation from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates.

The six-time champion Australia is grouped in Group A with 2020 runners-up India, Trans-Tasman foe New Zealand, and Asian teams Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The groups are unchanged for the October event.

Group B includes Bangladesh, Scotland, and the West Indies, the 2016 champions, South Africa, and England.

Through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier competition, which took place in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, Sri Lanka and Scotland were able to advance to the event.

The event will consist of four group matches for each team, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals on October 17 and 18, which will precede the Final in Dubai on October 20. The semi-finals and final will both have a reserve day scheduled.
