Hagerstown wins the first game of the Little League World Series

Williamsport, Pa. — Hagerstown wins their first game of the Little League World Series, sending them to the next round of the United States bracket.

The Indiana and Great Lakes Region champion team faced off against the Midwest Region winner in Davenport, Iowa. Both teams advanced with 4-3 wins last week.

Hagerstown, which was the home team, took an early lead and led 7-1 in the top of the third inning. However, Iowa tied the game at 7-7 in the fourth.

Hagerstown was then able to score the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

A Hagerstown win means they will play at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, on ESPN. Find out who they play tomorrow at 3pm. A game between the Southeast and Mountain Region champions.

The Hagerstown Little League World Series is a must
Iowa now 3 p.m. Moving on to the elimination bracket for game on Saturday, August 20 on ABC.

Hagerstown emerged as the Indiana Little League champions after defeating Decatur Central in New Castle. They beat Kentucky and punched their ticket to Pennsylvania to win the Great Lakes Regional.

Since completing the trip to LLWS, the team has been receiving a lot of support. He has received shout-outs from NBA star Desmond Bane (a Richmond native who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies) and MLB star Tucker Bernhardt (a Brownsburg native who plays for the Detroit Tigers).

The Hagerstown community also came together to record a video message congratulating the team and wishing them well in the LLWS. Hagerstown’s football team congratulated the team in a video shared on Facebook.

On Thursday afternoon, Indianapolis Indians players also shared their support with a video on the team’s Facebook page.

Wayne County Commissioners issued a proclamation this week recognizing the team and declaring Wednesday, August 17, 2022, “Hagerstown Little League All-Stars Day.”
