Students of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) at Mallah village near Jagraon and Dasmesh Senior Secondary School, Gill Road, emerged champions in the girls and boys sections, respectively, in the 14th Junior Ludhiana District Baseball Championship.
The competition was held at Government girls Senior secondary School (GGSSS) at Gill on Friday. Twelve groups participated in the girls’ segment while 14 groups contended in the young men’s segment.
In the last match, girls of Government Senior secondary School, Mallah, beat the host group GGSSS, Gill town, by 6-3 to lift the baseball prize. Navjot, Sukhpreet and Aarti of GSSS, Mallah, contributed two runs each to take their group to triumph.
Government Senior Auxiliary School, Bharat Nagar Chowk, and Government Senior Optional School, Kasabad, were mutually announced the second sprinters up as the different sides tied at 15 all in the match to choose the third position.
In the young men’s class, Dasmesh School crushed Master Nanak Model Senior Auxiliary School, Dholewal, by 6-4 to get the title. Kuldeep and Ruler assumed a pivotal part for the triumphant side. Government Senior Optional School, Gill town, crushed Government Senior Optional School, Kasabad, by a nearby edge of 5-4 to complete at the third spot.
Dr Smriti Bhargav, head of the host school, initiated the title and Sukhdev Singh Aulakh, leader of the Punjab Baseball Affiliation, offered prizes to the champs.
