All eyes will be on Marrakech for the 2025 Grand Prix Hassan II as the clay-court season picks up steam. Players hoping to establish themselves on the red dirt before the European clay swing will compete in the Moroccan ATP 250 event from March 31 to April 6.
Since moving from Casablanca in 2016, the competition has solidified its position as a major ATP Tour stop, drawing elite players keen to win the crown.
A thrilling combination of up-and-coming talent and seasoned pros will compete for supremacy on the Marrakech clay in this year’s event.
World No. 16 Lorenzo Musetti, who is keen to emulate his countryman Matteo Berrettini, who won in 2024 but will not be defending his title this time, is leading the charge.
Musetti is a favorite among fans due to his all-court style and single-handed backhand, and he is eager to add another ATP trophy to his collection.
Difficult Dutch heavyweight Tallon Griekspoor (No. 34), who has demonstrated his abilities on both hard and clay courts, will be part of Musetti’s formidable European team.
While France’s Alexandre Muller (No. 41) is keen to build on his consistent ascent in the rankings, Italian Lorenzo Sonego (No. 38) contributes his tenacity and powerful serve.
More excitement is expected to be added by the participation of the Spanish and Portuguese in Marrakech. Spain’s Roberto Carballés Baena (No. 51), the 2023 champion and 2024 runner-up, will try to recapture his championship, while Portugal’s Nuno Borges (No. 42) and Jaime Faria (No. 95) will be trying to set new records.
Jaume Munar (No. 55), a fellow Spaniard, is in great form after making a career-high run to the fourth round of a Masters 1000 event in Miami.
The tournament’s wildcard entry, which include seasoned figures eager for a deep run, provide a touch of unpredictableness. The wildcard winners are led by Italian veteran Fabio Fognini (No. 97), who is renowned for his brilliant shot-making and combative nature.
The trio is completed by Hugo Dellien of Bolivia (No. 103) and Pavel Kotov of Russia (No. 102), both of whom are keen to take advantage of their chance on the ATP stage.
