Gordon Hayward’s future with the Celtics gives off an impression of being undetermined.
The Ringer’s Ryen Russillo said Tuesday that he heard the Celtics huge man “does want out” of the last year of his $127.8 million agreement he signed during the 2017 offseason. Hayward would quit $34 million for the 2020-21 season.
Taking into account how Hayward has attempted to stay healthy and subsequently been given a decreased part, behind Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker, many have theorized he’d be savvy to acknowledge the alternative. Yet, ESPN has revealed that there’s been some “buzz” that the 30-year-old may quit and look for a long-term deal with a new team.
Russillo said he doesn’t really accept that Hayward would leave except if he had made sure about a worthwhile, multi-year bargain.
“I don’t know if he’s going to get the money,” he said on “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” “He’s not opting out of that huge number unless he knows he’s getting the deal.”
Hayward showed up in 52 games during the 2019-20 season, averaging 17.5 points and 6.5 bounce back per game. He endured a large number of wounds all through the season, including ankle sprains, a blackout and a foot injury.
