Deebo Samuel, a wide receiver for the 49ers, will not play in a game after returning to practice this week.
On Friday, Samuel was ruled out of Sunday’s matchup with the Raiders by head coach Kyle Shanahan. It will be Samuel’s third game without him due to knee and ankle injuries, and Shanahan said that it might be his last.
“We’ll see how practice goes,” Shanahan said, via 49ersWebzone.com. “I mean, he’s got to do more practice than he did this week, but he’s got a chance to.”
Any decision the 49ers make for the following week could be influenced by Sunday’s outcomes. The 49ers may not want to risk injuries in an effort to leapfrog the Vikings, as a win by the Eagles would eliminate the possibility of them winning the NFC’s top seed.
Also out are defensive lineman Kevin Givens (knee) and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (foot). Both defensive lineman Kerry Hyder and cornerback Ambry Thomas are listed as questionable due to injuries to their ankles.
