Hines was born on April twenty six, 1934 and grew up in Woodsfield, Ohio on a farm with eleven brothers and 4 sisters and a love for the sport of baseball.
After taking part in at shortstop during a youth league with boys throughout her college years, Hines set her sights a touch higher.
