ONE Friday Fights 98: The most popular weekly combat sports series will be back on your screens this Friday, February 28, in Asia primetime after a one-week hiatus.
With Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, hosting ONE Friday Fights 98, more eager fighters vie for a US$100,000 contract with the biggest martial arts organization in the world through a dozen intense Muay Thai and MMA bouts.
In the main event, rising striker Chartpayak Saksatoon will face Thai compatriot Kongchai Chanaidonmueang in a strawweight Muay Thai matchup with the goal of going 6-0 in ONE.
With four knockouts against opponents like Pornsanae Sor Phumipat and Petnamngam PK Saenchai, as well as a three-round decision victory over Kompet Fairtex in his most recent fight, Chartpayak has established the bar since making his ONE Friday Fights debut.
Kongchai, a highly regarded fighter and former Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion, has had a difficult run in recent ONE Friday Fights matches.
The crippled brawler easily won his first four bouts. Since then, though, he has had trouble maintaining pace and has seen a range of outcomes. He is eager to turn things around in the upcoming year after losing by a close margin to Ramadan Ondash at ONE Friday Fights 93 in January.
Mohamed Taoufyq, a flyweight Muay Thai novice, joins undefeated Russian upstart Asadula Imangazaliev in flyweight competition.
Imangazaliev has quickly introduced himself to ONE fans, boasting an impeccable 7-0 record. In as many promotional appearances, the 21-year-old has earned three first-round finishes, including two spectacular backfists.
However, Taoufyq is also gaining traction and wants to live up to the promise. With a 15-3 professional record, he is coming into the promotion as the 2024 Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion.
The evening will begin with two MMA bouts earlier. Sumit Bhyan will take on Connor Tymon in a lightweight throwdown, while profound finisher Avazbek Kholmirzaev will try to build on his comeback to winning ways against Kazakhstan’s Bolat Zamanbekov in 128-pound catchweight action.
