T201 Series between India and Sri Lanka: Pallekele will host all of the matches for this series, which starts on July 27. Sri Lanka has announced their roster.
Following Wanindu Hasaranga’s resignation as captain following the T20 World Cup 2024, Charith Asalanka has been selected Sri Lanka’s captain for the three-match series.
Still, Hasaranga is Sri Lanka’s most important player in the white-ball formats.
At the T20 World Cup 2024, Sri Lanka had a terrible performance, winning only one of their four Group D games and losing out in the group stage.
They will begin their preparations for the upcoming event in 2026 with this task, which comes just after the T20 World Cup.
Despite missing out on the Sri Lankan T20 World Cup squad, veteran all-rounders Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva have returned to the team, Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Perera.
The roster for the crucial series now includes Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Binura Fernando, and Avishka Fernando; Sadeera Samarawickrama is not included.
In the just finished Lankan Premier League, Avishka stood out as the top run scorer for Sri Lankan players, while Kusal Perera also had a strong showing with 296 runs at a strike rate of 169.
On July 27, 28, and 30, the hosts will play the final four games of the T201 series against the world champions.
Then, on August 2, both sides will play each other in a three-match ODI series.
