Lane attended Monday night’s game at TD Garden, where Cole scored the game-winning goal as BU defeated No. 1 Boston College 4-1, giving the Terriers their 32nd Beanpot title. The NHL was on break for the 4 Nations Face-Off event. For his efforts, Cole won MVP of the competition.
Amidst a boisterous crowd of 18,258 spectators at the home of the NHL’s Boston Bruins, Brandon Svoboda, Cole Eiserman, and Gavin McCarthy also scored goals for No. 9 BU. The New Jersey Devils prospect goalie Mikhail Yegorov stood out, finishing with 43 saves in his first Beanpot final.
Yegorov won the Eberly Award, which is presented to the Beanpot goalie who has the best save % throughout the competition, which also includes Harvard and Northeastern every year. Yegorov recorded a.972 percentage with 69 of 71 shots stopped in two starts.
Hutson, an 18-year-old teammate who was selected in the second round by the Washington Capitals the previous season, was recognized as the tournament MVP. With three goals and five points at the end, he helped the Terriers win their first Beanpot since 2022 and their 32nd overall.
The Eagles’ only goal was scored by Gabe Perreault, a 2023 first-round draft selection of the New York Rangers. Perreault’s goal was assisted by Ryan Leonard, another BC first-round pick who was chosen by the Capitals at No. 8 overall in the same draft.
In the consolation game, Harvard defeated Northeastern 4-3, with two goals from Mason Langenbrunner.
Despite starting the game 9 for 62 on the power play in 22 games, the Crimson (8-13-2) was able to convert their first four against the Huskies (9-14-3). For Langenbrunner, a junior defenseman chosen by the Bruins in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft, it was his first game with multiple goals.
Harvard also had goals from Casey Severo and Mick Thompson. Cristophe Tellier scored one goal and Jack Williams scored two for NU.
