The NHL on Tuesday fined the left wing of the Blues David Perron 5,000 for a cross-check of avalanche center Nazem Qadri during Colorado’s 6-3 victory in Game 4 on Monday.
The incident took place at 5.30 pm in the second period. Peron came in and checked Kadri down on the ice. Then, as Qadri tried to get up, Peron jumped on him and the two slipped onto the board of a St. Louis bench.
The penalty under the collective bargaining agreement is the maximum allowed and the money will go to the players’ emergency relief fund.
Avs leads the series 3-1. The two teams will meet for the fifth game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ball Arena.
