In a big update concerning the Asia Cup 2022, it is now being reported that the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan fixture will happen on August 28. This will be a huge match as it will be the first face-off between the arch-rivals after India’s heartbreaking defeat to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021.
India’s defeat to the Men in Green had eventually cost them a place in the semifinals of that tournament. Early reports carried out by Sri Lankan media suggest that the multi-team event will commence on 27 August
Notably, India are the defending champions of this event having beaten Bangladesh in the final in the previous edition of the competition. The 2022 edition of the tournament is scheduled to happen in Sri Lanka who are keen on hosting the competition despite going through an economic crisis.
The reports further suggest that while India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh have already sealed their spots for the tournament, UAE, Nepal, Oman, Hong Kong among other teams will be playing a qualifier round to seal their birth for the main event. This qualifier is scheduled to commence on August 21.
