Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers could be looking for a new team after the season. Rogers’ frustration with the Packers peaked in the off-season and his contract was restructured in such a way that the Packers were forced to sever ties with him before 2022.
Because of his future uncertainty, Rogers took the bold step of rejecting an NFL franchise for which he would never play. That team? You may have already guessed that it is a Chicago bear.
Rogers was asked about the possibility and gave a clear assessment, “No. It just won’t happen, man.”
Rogers doesn’t hate everything about Chicago. He gave some kind words about the team’s fans and the city before the knockout round. There is a difference between respecting the fans and the city and playing for the team, and Rogers recognizes that.
Rogers and the Packers will face the Bears in the sixth week.
The Packers could face Aaron Rogers in the off-season
It’s not that the bears were realistic landing spots for Rogers. The Packers have never faced Rogers in the division, especially with the team’s most hated opponent. If Rogers were to deal, the Packers would probably prefer to send him to the AFC, where he is less likely to match his former team every season.
Rogers is free to jump back into the department when he becomes a free agent. Brett Favre did just that by signing a contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
If that happens, it could be Rogers Favre stepping in or joining the Detroit Lions. None of those options seem likely.
