The Hall of Fame coach showed up on individual Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe’s podcast “Club Shay Shay” to talk about his list of the hardest quarterbacks he looked as a coach.
Dungy clarified that Peyton Manning was the best quarterback he ever confronted. In the wake of Manning, Dungy said portable quarterbacks, for example, John Elway, Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers were in every case hard to approach against.
Dungy added he wasn’t stating Brady was anything but difficult to stop, yet he didn’t have the “additional measurement” that versatile quarterbacks present.
“Those mobile quarterbacks, that’s who I put ahead of Tom,” Dungy said. “Aaron Rodgers, John Elway, Steve Young, the guys who could move. Not saying Tom wasn’t great. He is great but that extra dimension meant something to me so that’s why I would only put him at six.”
News of Dungy’s rundown found its way back to Brady and the six-time Super Bowl champion reacted to what he saw as a slight with subtle trolling.
Brady tweeted an image of the Colt’s 2014 AFC finalist banner. Brady and the New England Patriots defeated the Colts in the 2014 AFC Championship game 45-7.
The Patriots proceeded to win Super Bowl XLIX over the Seattle Seahawks 28-24.
Brady’s jab at Dungy was similarly inconspicuous and savage. Indeed, even Pat McAfee couldn’t react to Brady’s burn.
