Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 will be held in Rajgir from June 1–10. Bihar will host the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup for the second time. The inaugural event took place in 2012 at Patna’s Patliputra Sports Complex.
With a 4000-year history, kabaddi is one of the oldest traditional Indian sports in the world. It was featured as an exhibition sport during the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
The 10-day Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 organized by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) in collaboration with the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), would feature 14 teams, including teams from Latin America and Africa.
The teams confirmed for the second edition of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup include India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, Japan, Poland, Uganda, Kenya, Hungary, Thailand, Nepal, Germany, and Argentina.
The inaugural Women’s Kabaddi World Cup featured 31 matches spread across four days with 16 teams in all. Before the knockout stage, there were round-robin group games. The second Women’s Kabaddi World Cup’s format has not yet been finalized.
The hosts India defeated Iran 25-19 in the final to win the first Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, and they are the reigning champions. Japan and Thailand lost their respective semi-final matches and finished in third place.
