Women’s T20 cricket is about to enter a new and exciting chapter with the return of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) for its third season in 2025.
The tournament will start on February 14 at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara with an exciting first matchup between the Gujarat Giants (GG) and the reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The grand final of the season will take place at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai on March 15.
The event will once again feature five teams: the Delhi Capitals (DC), Gujarat Giants (GG), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and UP Warriorz (UPW).
The start date has been pushed back by one week due to a minor delay in the schedule. There will be 22 league games spread over four cities: Mumbai, Bengaluru, Vadodara, and Lucknow.
Before the action moves to Bengaluru for eight matches, the first six games will be held in Vadodara. After that, Lucknow will host four games until Mumbai hosts the tournament’s conclusion. CCI Mumbai will host the playoffs, which include the elimination round on March 13 and the championship game on March 15.
The format of the competition will be the same as it was in past years. In a double round-robin stage, each team will play every other team twice. The top-ranked team will advance straight to the final at the conclusion of the league phase, while the teams in second and third place will compete in an elimination round to determine who will advance to the championship match.
