At Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi, the Rarh Bengal Tigers and Soorma Hockey Club will begin their Women’s Hockey India League 2024–25 season on Monday, January 13.
The Women’s Hockey League 2024–25 is a historic event that will usher in a new era for women in hockey as the first professional hockey league for women.
The tournament is expected to see fierce combat from the renowned Rarh Bengal Tigers and Soorma Hockey Club.
The Rarh Bengal Tigers are led by Udita Duhan in the 2024–25 Women’s Hockey League. With 123 caps since her debut in 2017, she leads a squad that appears formidable and strategically competent, supported by two-time World Cup champion and Olympic bronze medallist Glenn Turner, the coach from Australia.
On the other side, Soorma Hockey Club is a valuable team with a wealth of expertise. The team has strong leadership, with Indian captain Salima Tete and Savita Punia serving as co-captains. The home audience will probably support Tete as she takes the lead on the pitch.
The team will be led by former Olympian Jude Menezes, who coached Japan in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
