Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024: Schedule, Preview, Indian Team, and Live Streaming Details

Preview and live streaming of the 2024 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy: The Indian women’s hockey team will try to start anew in a new Olympic cycle by defending its Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) title at home after struggling to win games all year. They will square off against lower-ranked Malaysia on Monday.

In the tournament’s seven previous iterations, India has won the title twice, in 2016 (in Singapore) and 2023 (in Ranchi).

The Indian team lost 13 games and won just two (with one draw) out of 16 in the women’s FIH Pro League this year, which prevented them from qualifying for the Olympics in Paris. However, they will be hoping to turn things around with a solid showing in the ACT.

Under the direction of Salima Tete, India has entered a mixed squad for the competition, including both young and seasoned players. With great hopes going into the competition, Salima’s deputy will be striker Navneet Kaur.

Five other countries, including the current Olympic silver medallists China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand, will compete fiercely with the team for continental supremacy.

Along with sixth-ranked China, the current Olympic silver medallists, the Indians will undoubtedly begin as one of the tournament’s favorites.

Japan has won the competition twice, but South Korea has won three times, making them the most successful team.

After missing out on qualifying for the Olympics in Paris, the Indian women’s hockey team is embarking on a new path.
