The Indian men’s hockey team arrived at the New Delhi Airport on Saturday morning, having won the bronze medal in the current Paris Olympics 2024.
When the Indian men’s hockey team, led by captain Harmanpreet Singh, landed in the nation’s capital on Saturday, hundreds of supporters flocked to greet and applaud. After winning bronze at the Olympics in Paris for the second time in a row, the team triumphed again.
Along with double medallist Manu Bhaker, renowned goalie PR Sreejesh, who retired at the conclusion of India’s campaign, will jointly carry the flag during the event.
Along with Amit Rohidas, Raj Kumar Pal, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, and Sanjay, he stayed in Paris. It is planned for this group to return following the closing ceremony.
When Harmanpreet and the team emerged from arrivals at the Indira Gandhi International airport early in the morning, they were met with garlands and festive dhol.
“We have received all the support, and all our requirements were fulfilled. I really want to thank… We are very happy and proud,” Harmanpreet, who scored a brace in the medal match, told.
“It is a big achievement for hockey. The love that is being showered upon hockey doubles our responsibility. We will also try that whenever we enter the field, we comeback with a medal,” he added.
The team’s thrilling hockey performance during the Games included a thrilling 3-2 victory over Australia in the group stage—an Olympic victory not seen in 52 years.
In the quarterfinal match against Britain, they achieved yet another incredible victory because to Sreejesh’s heroics. The team played with a man down for more than 40 minutes, forcing a penalty shootout and winning 4-2.
