Kolkata Knight Riders won their third title on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in a one-sided IPL final. KKR ended their ten-year wait with a thorough effort that saw them bowl out SRH for just 113 and finish the chase with 9.3 overs remaining. KKR had won the IPL in 2012 and 2014.
After finishing first in the IPL 2024, KKR was awarded a financial prize of Rs 20 crore, while SRH received a prize of Rs 12.5 crore.
While Royal Challengers Bengaluru will receive Rs 6.5 crore for finishing fourth, Rajasthan Royals will receive Rs 7 crore for placing third.
Orange Cap and Purple Cap winners
Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap with 24 wickets, while Virat claimed the Orange Cap with 741 runs scored. Cash awards totaling Rs. 10 lakh were given to each of them.
Along with Rs 10 lakh, Nitish Kumar Reddy was the tournament’s Emerging Player of the Year.
