The Australians destroyed India by 122 runs in the second game after sweeping a five-wicket victory in the first to grab an unstoppable 2-0 series lead. The Tahlia McGrath-led hosts won the toss and decided to bat first, scoring 371 runs in 50 overs—the best total against India in female ODI. The match was thus easily concluded when the host team bowled out India for 249 in 44.5 overs.
Ellyse Perry (105) and opener Georgia Voll (101) both crushed dominant hundreds for the Australians. Saima Thakor (3/62) claimed three wickets for Harmanpreet Kaur’s India, while opener Richa Ghosh scored a top-scoring 54 from 72 balls.
In the third ODI at the WACA Ground in Perth, the visitors will need to do something exceptional to turn the tide. India has lost three of their past five 50-over matches, whereas Australia has won all five of their recent ODIs.
Following this match, India will welcome the West Indies for a white-ball tour from December 15–27. From December 19 to 23, the Australians will go to their neighbors, Australia, for a three-match ODI series.
